A presitigious Hedge Fund in Midtown, NYC, is searching for a talented SQL DBA to continue their database development. Financial experience is not needed. Desired above all is good energy and eagerness.

  • Responsible for maintenance, configuration and deployment of all existing and new instances of SQL Server 2008 R2, including the development, implementation and maintenance of administrative procedures

  • Provide database administration support for a variety of database technologies in conjunction with applications which use the software

  • Manage local and remote server environments (SQL and Application). Suggest and implement best practices

  • Manage and administer enterprise custom developed .Net applications which integrate with Exchange and Active directory

  • Assist in the designing, planning, and implementation of disaster recovery policies and procedures

  • Support the existing Microsoft Cluster Environment for SQL Server 2008 R2


  • Practical database administration experience in administering, managing and supporting MS SQL Databases

  • Strong Microsoft Windows and SQL Server background

  • Experience with SQL Server version 2005/2008 R2/2012, database performance tuning, and configuration

  • Experience in SQL server technologies for Clustering, High Availability and Disaster Recovery

  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues

  • Expertise in writing T-SQL subroutines like stored procedures, functions, views and triggers

  • Experience with OLAP tools and techniques a Plus

  • Experience with network/storage architectures a Plus

  • Experience with Project Management Methodologies like Agile, ITIL a Plus


  • 3-5 years related experience in SQL Database Administration

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or Equivalent

  • Thorough understanding of database methodologies, and best practices

  • Experience with installation, configuration, and optimization of MS SQL 2008/R2 database software in clustered environment

  • Working understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, Windows 2008/R2 Architecture and clustering as well as Microsoft Exchange and Powershell

  • Experience in working with infrastructure in a data center environment and adherence to change management and other service level agreements

  • Ability to work independently
