Senior Directory Services Engineer

Job Description:

The Senior Directory Services Engineer is responsible for the technical design, implementation, and operational support across the organizations Directory Services infrastructure including AD, ADFS, and IAM solutions (3rd party or homegrown). You must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to bring multiple parties together to drive towards a common goal. You will be responsible for contributing to a program of change including the creation of ongoing framework of global standards in support of the companys business and technical goals.


  • Responsible for configuration, management, and support of global Directory Services infrastructure with careful regard to availability, connectivity, performance, and security

  • Contribute to workflow across change requests, documentation, ticketing, and meeting facilitation

  • Efficiently troubleshoot/prioritize issues and contribute to a culture of root cause analysis

  • Provide escalation support to the IT Service Desk/Desktop support teams

  • Architect and implement automation ensuring a consistent and reliable environment

  • Coordinate vendor escalations by acting as a bridge between the vendors engineering resources and the company

  • Continuously move the organization forward by researching new and emerging technologies

  • Participate and oversee efforts in audits related to the Directory Services infrastructure

The ideal candidate has worked extensively with a range of directory services and heavily involved in design and implementation of global platforms. Due to the demanding nature of Finance, the right personality with the ability to learn rapidly and think outside the box is as important as the technical skills.

Required Skills:

  • Successful track record in design, implementation and support of Identity and Access Management systems

  • Expertise in the integration of 3rd party (vendor/homegrown) systems

  • Use AD architecture knowledge to create and utilize tools, configuration strategies, and automation to manage access entitlements between diverse systems using APIs

  • Conduct hands-on development of SQL and PowerShell scripts or procedures to format and manipulate data in order to perform automation and reporting

  • Develop best practices and create documentation to manage the security posture of a global environment

  • In-depth knowledge of ADFS, SAML or similar single sign-on architecture

  • Expertise in Windows Active Directory infrastructure and all related services (DNS, DHCP, DFS, etc)

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server 2008R2/2012 system administration

  • In-depth knowledge of Group Policy, Certificate Authority and Authentication protocols (Kerberos/NTLM)

  • Excellent PowerShell skills to manage and automate Active Directory and related services

  • Ability to evaluate and manage the health and performance of the Active Directory Infrastructure

  • Plan, test and execute domain controller and server patching in accordance with our patch cycles

  • Understanding of Windows 7/10 client operating systems and interaction within a Windows domain

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with software development lifecycle products (GIT, TeamCity, etc)

  • Understanding of Microsoft Exchange architecture and all components

  • Experience with MDM systems and the ability to architect/troubleshoot MobileIron, BlackBerry, etc

  • Understanding of Lync/Skype for Business topology and ability to architect/troubleshoot the environment
