A major U.S. financial institution is seeking an adept Java Developer with recent experience developing Risk Systems and that has financial product knowledge in Equity Derivatives and P&L.

Detailed Info: to deliver intraday risk pricing services - primarily a high-volume real-time application to give equity traders an up-to-date picture of their present exposure to various forms of risk. This global application is used by equity, cash, swaps, exotic trading and regional risk management on a daily basis. We are seeking a experienced technical developer to work on our service side pricing and reporting frameworks. This is a core Java role with an emphasis on writing concurrent, distributed, low-latency code to value derivatives in real-time via an interface to a C++ analytics library. The framework streams real-time market data to distributed compute engines, consolidates risk & P/L reports and ultimately feeds results to front-office desktop applications. The candidate will be expected to assist with all facets of application development including project and support work, analysis, tooling, release management and testing. The development work is based around an agile process with frequent, small releases driven off a prioritized backlog of work. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have regular contact with front-office traders and quant-strats. Additionally, the successful applicant will engage with the wider equity risk team in building out consolidated risk services.

Development/Computing Environment:

  • Experience in building and integrating Java applications with a key focus on concurrent and distributed systems essential

  • Passionate focus on software quality, agile and CI/CD practices

  • Strong understanding of testing approaches (unit/integration/acceptance) and knowledge of at least one mocking framework.

  • Experience in SQL & JDBC, RESTful web services and JSON.

  • Demonstrable experience of successful delivery within full-life cycle projects

  • Strong analytical skills and a keen ability to solve problems, perform research and derive strategic solutions to complex problems.

  • Impeccable interpersonal communication skills

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in GIT, JIRA, Maven and Jenkins is an advantage

  • A good understanding of SOLID principles and refactoring software

  • Any python experience would be advantageous but not necessary
