Detailed Info: currently seeking professional and motivated candidates interested in joining the firm as an Investment Data Specialist. Data Specialists will be responsible for providing support in hedge fund research, due diligence and hiring process. This position will be based in New York City, with some flexibility in work hour arrangement (within the full-time employment set up).
Investment Data Specialist's responsibilities will include, amongst other things, the following activities:
Collect hedge fund managers' information from various different sources and compile comprehensive investment universes by methodically codifying and analyzing data
Conduct regular and ongoing maintenance of the fund managers information in databases, identifying and addressing any data issues
Support due diligence and hiring process of the fund managers
Work with third-party hedge fund and alternative investment databases (e.g., HFR, Eurekahedge) to support development/maintenance of new analytical tools that would allow team to follow their respective markets; find new and innovative ways of interpreting that data
Use spreadsheets and in-house data systems to aggregate data and perform various analyses
Depending on the candidate's background and experience, there are additional opportunities to contribute to or manage the team's effort in:
Streamlining the fund manager data collection/maintenance processes and developing an optimal support model
5-8 years of postgraduate experience, with 2-3 years having been in the financial sector - special consideration will be given to those with experience in the data and analysis of hedge funds and those with experience in fund accounting
The ideal candidate will have experience of implementing development and succession plans for all levels, and will display effective communication and coaching skills
Systems knowledge of Investran, Geneva or other fund accounting systems advantageous
Highly proficient in Excel (ie formulas, VBA, etc). SQL a plus.
Must have a Bachelor's degree
Very strong attention to detail; a strong dedication to producing error-free work
Very strong, naturally curious, problem-solver (e.g., issue identification, problem structuring)
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms and to link quantitative insight with business logic and intuition
