  • University's central organization for technology-based services for University faculty, students, staff, and administrators. The University's IT department provides computer, network, telephone and Internet services to the entire University.

  • IT Department currently seeks a Senior Systems Database Administrator to provide database support for client applications.

Major tasks are:

  • Provide technical support for database environments, including testing and installation of DBMS upgrades. Assist in documenting database strategies and architectures

  • Participate in tool evaluation, integration and support. Monitor the performance of production systems and utilize appropriate tools to identify tuning requirements

  • Experience with troubleshooting database performance and query tuning. Broad technical knowledge of client/server and web-based environments Database software maintenance (upgrades, service packs and patches)

  • Experience isolating, diagnosing and resolving DBMS problems, including root cause analysis Experience working with Oracle advanced features such as RAC, Partitioning, Streams, OEM Understands 24 X 7 database support and working with Oracle Support.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (include certification, licenses, etc.):

  • Proficiency in PL/SQL. Knowledge of UNIX and shell scripts. Strong knowledge of Oracle Grid, Data Guard, RAC and RMAN technologies. Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.

Required Experience:

  • 5 years' relevant experience as an Oracle 10g/11g DBA. Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix OS and shell scripting. Good interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Oracle Peoplesoft applications, Linux/Unix OS

Qualifications/Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Courses in business, finance, computer science
