The Business Analyst, Space Management will be a member of the User Support Team of the IT Facilities Portfolio. They will be in charge of managing client communication, primarily but not limited to the Space Management System, alongside a team of Business Analysts. The Business Analyst, Space Management, may have 3-4 Student Business Analysts reporting to them for task assignment and review.
On a daily basis, the Support team will respond to user and client inquiries sent to the support alias, submit and review bug tickets for development, perform specialized system management tasks (user on-boarding, invoice reconciliations, space data management , etc.), and delegate / review student work.
While the Business Analyst, Space Management may be cross-trained on supporting different Facilities products, their main focus will be on managing the Space Management System.
Managing the NYU Space Management System (SMS) entails:
Responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of space data.
Converting AutoCAD files received to Standards and implementing architectural and space data changes (change requests) into SMS
Prioritizing and grooming the space change request backlog
Delegating space change requests to Student Business Analysts
Performing the occasional in-person survey of a physical space
Testing existing and new functionality of SMS
Engaging in consistent communication with university space stewards in schools and admin units to ensure space data changes are communicated in a timely fashion, and that complete space data information is provided for the changes
Managing the university space steward community group and engaging with them in bi-yearly meetings. These meetings are meant to make users aware of new system functions, gather new system needs, and ensure we have proper contact information for all groups.
The Business Analyst, Space Management will be in charge of attending regular meetings with Development to ensure production systems are running seamlessly.
On a monthly basis, the Business Analyst, Space Management will be in charge of attending SMS training sessions for new users. They may be needed to lead training too.
With an ever-changing tech landscape, the Business Analyst, Space Management must be willing to learn new systems, processes, and support whatever technology is needed by the University's Facilities.
Expertise in AutoCAD is a plus. If not, they must be willing to learn this system.
The position will have a start date of January 2nd, 2020.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
3 years of technology experience, primarily in data management / support
Experience working in an academic environment, a University or educational institution.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience working in a client focused environment and engaging with external clients. Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong analysis skills. Ability to facilitate decision-making and consensus between diverse stakeholders. Ability to work individually or within a team environment. Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization and external vendors in an articulate, professional manner. Must have experience with performing client support, data review, and data analytics.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General project management skills. Experience in a business analysis requirements role: elicitation, analysis, validation, or communication and management. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus. Working knowledge of Electrical, Facilities, Telecom, Engineering shop drawings.
