Detailed Info: to join a team of developers working on a critical migration project. The developer will develop software for to replace legacy software that stores and retrieves financial securities (equities, fixed income, derivatives) information into a very large database of securities data. The candidate will design and develop storage and retrieval software, create data models, and optimize queries. Able to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and be adept at prioritizing her/his work as well as that of the team. Focus on the project priorities in order to deliver the required product at the scheduled time. Comfortable collaborating with business analysts, product managers, quality assurance groups and client services to refine requirements and plan implementation strategies. Be able to problem solve, plan, and estimate development efforts. Demonstrate the ability to show initiative and be able to move projects forward to completion with minimal supervision. Be involved in the full life cycle of the systems development from requirement gathering through development and testing to on-going support and maintenance. The position will involve some on-call support outside of regular business hours
Development/Computing Environment: Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or Software/Computer Engineering (or foreign degree equivalent) 8+ years' development experience. Primary skill-set should be that of a Java developer with extensive experience (7+ years) working on Linux based enterprise systems, as well as a strong understanding of database technology. Experience with designing tables using DDL, including. Understanding how to normalize data models, how indices work, and how views work. Experience with writing and updating databases using DML and JDBC. Experience querying databases using SQL and JDBC. Experience with the Spring Boot application framework. Experience with Perl and other scripting languages a plus. Experience with Linux, XML, Git and Eclipse. Knowledge of financial markets data is a plus. Strong communication skills.
