Position Summary

  • Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to assist with the design, implementation and maintenance of the campus-wide network infrastructure and network offered services. This position's primary function will be to configure and maintain the components of the University's recently designed 400Gb/s High Speed Research Network (HSRN), as well as work as a member of the Network Engineering department to support the university's overall campus fabric.

  • Duties will include, but not be limited to, capacity planning, monitoring of network reliability and performance, as well as to provide problem resolution for network components which support the university's academic, administrative and research units.


Principal Duties

  • The role will be responsible to manage the daily operation and maintenance of the University's HSRN network and provide configuration and problem resolution to complex network components such as core routing, switching, and firewalls.

  • You will develop operational service objectives and determine maintenance and upgrade strategies to ensure the optimal performance of the network which will provide the effective delivery of services.

  • You will be responsible to develop a strategy which would consist of design, configuration and implementation of network management tools to monitor and report on the reliability and traffic flow of the network.

  • You will work to assist with the recommendation of both external and custom tools which will be designed to operate and configure the HSRN Network.


Current Required Experience

  • 5+ years of enterprise network experience, with intermediate to advanced knowledge of designing, configuring and operating an enterprise-level TCP/IP network using OSPF/BGP a must.

  • Management of switches, routers, network security devices, load balancers and network services (DHCP/DNS/IPAM) is required.

  • An understanding of project management and the ability to create network level diagrams and documentation is desired.
